Family home in Loděnice: 12.2 kWp and a 28 kWh battery
Solar panels on a flat roof, three Victron MultiPlus-II inverters in a three-phase setup and a 28 kWh battery. We monitor the system remotely through HELIOS.

On the flat roof of a family home in Loděnice we built a 12.2 kWp solar system. In the garage below sits an equipment wall with Victron Energy electronics and a 28 kWh battery, so the house runs on its own electricity even in the evening, when the panels have stopped producing.

The roof
The black panels sit in rows across the flat roof. We planned the layout around the roof area and shading.

The equipment wall in the garage
The three MultiPlus-II units run as a three-phase system. They turn battery power into AC for the house, top the battery up from the grid when needed, and take over the house if the grid goes down.
Two SmartSolar MPPT charge controllers sit between the panels and the battery. They find the point at which the panels deliver the most and charge at that current. With no fan, they're silent in the garage and have nothing to clog up. Over VE.Can, they charge in sync.
The battery, charge controllers and inverters all meet on a Lynx Power In copper busbar. Instead of a bundle of cables on the battery terminals, there's one tidy connection point, and the busbar is easy to extend.

Remote monitoring
The system reports to HELIOS, the monitoring centre we built on top of Victron VRM. We see output, battery status and any faults in real time, so we usually know about an outage before the owner does.
Planning something similar?
We size the inverters, the number of charge controllers and the battery to match your consumption. Tell us what you'd like to build and we'll arrange a site survey and prepare a proposal. There's more about each component on our Technology page.
